It does happen, just a lot slower for our children. Her childhood is so full of imagination. And she is so lucky to have you. Imagine our children without parents that let them be them? It would kill their souls for sure.

Are there any Aspergers Forums for us to join and meet other parents. I am on a couple FB sites, but they are set up poorly, and I just can't take the time to use them. I need a traditional forum type of site.

I did check out that site you told me about. I have seen it, but just haven't sat down to consume.Daniele Valoishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06255113684076587143noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5086315245447814692.post-90922427484341505692010-02-17T16:36:43.061-05:002010-02-17T16:36:43.061-05:00When I worked at the coffee shop my parents came i...When I worked at the coffee shop my parents came in for a visit. Jessica stood at the counter about 6 inches away from some lady and stared at her the ENTIRE time she was ordering/paying. It hurt so badly, watching how upset the lady was getting. Where's the love? Where's the tolerance? Where's the joy in finding people different from you? As I handed the lady her drink, she scowled at me and said, "What's HER problem?" (She didn't know Jessica was my sister.) I said, "She just likes people and is curious about you. What's YOUR problem?"

It took me a while to not give a disclaimer before introducing people to Jessica. She is who she is; get to know her, and you'll love her.

Brooke is a jewel. She's loving and generous and curious and gentle and exciting and interesting and hilarious and smart and cute and so many wonderful, wonderful things. And watching you with her has taught me so much about parenting my own kids.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5086315245447814692.post-17883387999322487192010-02-17T11:53:37.229-05:002010-02-17T11:53:37.229-05:00Sherilin... do you remember when Vince was in K an...Sherilin... do you remember when Vince was in K and going through all the problems with the school? Well my dad said it best, you have a colorful child in a black & white world. I have raised my 3 boys to be themselves, not care what others think. I dont want my kids to be mushed down versions of themselves. They diagnosed Vince at age 4 with ADHD, I did not let them put him on meds for a while then we tried some and it totally killed who he was. Since then, he has been himself. For about a year, he wore Harry Potter glasses and robe everywhere we went... and I mean EVERYWHERE! So many people looked at him and said things to him. All I could do was laugh with him at those people and tell them he is just being fun & creative. Please do not take that from Brooke. Who cares what other say. Just make sure to explain to her that there will be times when people are mean and times when they are nice. But not to get her feelings hurt. Most people in this world conform to what they should be not who they are, in my opinion it takes away from who they truly are and she needs to find who she truly is. As long as you explain to her what could happen and why then I think she will be able to handle it. And maybe... just maybe you should wear a dog tail and ears one day to the store just to see how creative you can be too!!! =) Dont fret, there could be worse things going on than the fact that she loves to dress up and has pretend animals that she imagines and treats like they are real. Little kids are who their parents want them to be... not who they are. FYI - Vince was dressed up like Batman just a few weeks ago... in public lol =)Daisy Head Maisyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04099294868556977138noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5086315245447814692.post-50352174495674684832010-02-17T05:16:24.060-05:002010-02-17T05:16:24.060-05:00I have tears in my eyes....some from laughing, and...I have tears in my eyes....some from laughing, and some from understanding how badly you want the world to understand Brookes antics...Janahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14750895964653681448noreply@blogger.com
