sunday, brooke got baptized at church. she's been wanting to do this for a few months and finally got the chance. however, once the moment arrived, she got pretty nervous and almost changed her mind. i guess the hundreds of people and big cameras surrounding her, as well as the strangers smiling at her from around the edges of the dunking pool became a little too much.

but she hung in there, clinging to my side with tears in her eyes until the last possible second and then went in like a champ. she said that she loved Jesus and wanted to be baptized to show that.

i love this picture of brooke hanging on my dad.

on a different and unrelated brooke note, yesterday she was super annoyed by school. it was hard and she had no patience for the shenanigans of her math and spelling assignments. i found this note written on the top of her spelling page. and i had to laugh because "screw" is one of her spelling words and she used it correctly in a sentence.

i'm such a proud mama!

  1. It's so awesome that Broke wrote that on her homework haha, it gave me a good laugh! Congratulations to her on her baptism too.

  2. You have a special child indeed! I am really happy about the first part of this post as she will spend eternity in the best place ever. As tor the spelling test? I think this shows that she is well on her way to dealing with her temporary stay here on earth.

  3. You certainly are an attractive family.

  4. three things: (1) congratulations to brooke on her baptism! (2) does everyone in the world tell you that she looks exactly like you?! great pictures :) and (3) especially love her proper use of spelling words - that was awesome

  5. As you know, I am a heathen. However, I think Brooke is absolutely delightful, and always love reading/hearing about her.

  6. That is so neat! I was baptized in a lake when I was just a little younger than Brooke. I remember it well.

Oh, and you look GREAT. :)

  7. Great photos. You and Brooke are both lovely!

  8. Great family pictures.
I love her note on her homework.

  9. Congratulations to Brooke....and she is a pistol. Gotta love it.
    Screw this. (tee,hee)

  10. I am sooooo laughing over here. I swoon over a girl who can use the spelling words in a correct manner. The fact the word was screw just makes it so much better. I love your daughter.

    Congrats on the Baptism.

  11. Congrats to Brooke.
Love the note.. extra credit points for that! LOL!

  12. LOVELY pictures! You all look amazing and so happy!
Brooke is a delight. Love the use of the spelling word!

  13. The pic of the two of you is my favorite! You look AMAZING!!!

  14. "Screw," "crap," "baptism," and "Jesus"....all in one post.
That's what I like about this blog.
Congratulations to Brooke. I sometimes wish we Catholics (or at least the good folks at St. Stanislaus) did baptisms this way. This way you remember it.
I know I could do it again. But, I'm probably older than anyone who'd consent to be my godfather. And, besides, if I DID find anyone older, they wouldn't be able to hold me over the baptismal font (I can be such a squirmer) while the priest douses me with water.
So, I'll just have to be content with my first baptism.
Especially since I'm the only one from that time who's still alive.

don't let me be the only one doing the talking around here. spill your guts!
